Chat LIVE with me tonight about my Colors Class

Wednesday, September 12, 2012
Hey there everyone!
Today is the day to come and chat live with me about my upcoming Building Colors Confidence class at ReneePearson.com on ReneeTV!  You can ask me questions about the class, get a little overview of what I will cover in the class, or just come to chat with me live and in person. :)

LIVE CHAT TODAY SEPT. 12th 9:00 PM EDT at ReneeTV HERE

This class teaches you how to start any art project by choosing your colors correctly.  But, I don't stop there, I also show you how to USE those colors with little clips into my process with the 2 bonus videos (PSE and CS) and also my entire process from scratch how I create a soft artsy background paper.  This class is a must for anyone who want to become or even already is a Digital Designer too!

So no matter if you are a real life artist and want to produce these kinds of colors

Or you are a digital artist and want to produce this

This class will help you get there!  It's the first in a series of classes I am teaching that starts you from SCRATCH for on your way to becoming a digital artist and designer.  I don't teach how to use CU, or how to use someone else's color theme cards, I teach you how to develop and create your OWN!

Be YOU… Be UNIQUE… Be TRUE

Here is a small sped up clip from one of the bonus videos your receive in the class where I show how I created an artsy page, from scratch, with only a flower sketch and a photo of my tile floor.
Start to finish, I show it all!

And if you want to see some more of my artsy style, I did an Evolution of a Page video at my Scrap Art Studio site's blog yesterday for Technique Tuesday showing my entire thought process on creating an artsy layout page.  This is in the raw, so be prepared. :)  No editing, saying all my thoughts, showing my entire process. :)

And speaking of colors
Color Play 2 has been released in the SAS shop today!
I LOVED working with these colors.  I created the color scheme from left over fabrics and silks!

From My Sketchbook & a little wall art started

Friday, April 13, 2012
So I've decided to start sharing what I do in my Art Journals a little bit by popular request of my students. I have several, some private thoughts for working out feelings within me, some just for playing with colors and art or just for pure pleasure. The private ones will still be pretty much private, but the others are I am more than willing to share.
So here it goes…

My compy RAM was giving me issues yesterday, so before I decided to throw something at it, I decided to create something in my art journal instead. :D

I did do some fabric dying too, (still in process as I'm experimenting with creating my own Batik fabrics this week and will share when I get those done.), but I did some sketching and inks to experiment with the colors I wanted to use for my fabrics.

AND - FINALLY started sketching the flowers on the wall in the Studio.  Just penciled in right now… but have finally got in my mind what I want to do.  These are about 2-3 feet tall for the tallest.
Pretty kewl how a little sketching can inspire so much. ;)  These are sitting just under my "butterfly release" of the french butterflies we made last week.

Off to get ready for Nicky (aka Senovia), to come over and play today in the Studio! No clue what we are going to create, but know it will be fun!
Ciao!

Inspirations and my morning muse

Friday, August 05, 2011
I have been a little out of sorts this past week as I was not feeling at the top of my game with a four day long migraine, so I decided to spend some time cuddled up with my new Quilting Arts Mag in my bedroom with the shutters closed guarding my eyes from the intense Nevada sun.  Feeling the inspirations taking me over, I started sketching ideas for a new Art Quilt I want to make as a gift for a friend who is learning design.  I wanted to do something different but inspirational and educational.  I plan on making a color wheel showing all the color families in flowers into a pretty art quilt.  More on this later as I put this away until I finish my other art quilt with Miss Bailey. :)

I then went surfing for a new Beautiful Mess inspiration for a new digiscrap kit.  I wanted something calming, (with my current state of being), and neutral.  Something that could easily be combined with any colors from one's stash.  I frequently read Rebecca Sower's blog since I discovered her back in 2009 from a Somerset Studio Mag I have.   This week she posted this wonderful neutral photo collage and it's a perfect muse for me today.  See her post here with all the photo credits.

So armed with my new inspiration, I came up with a "non-color" color theme! lol
Off White - Creams - Silver - Taupes - Charcoals

I spent my morning pulling fabrics, textures and my vast collection UFOs (Un-Finished-Objects), together in my studio  to develop a mini inspiration board for this with my color swatch pulled from these.  We'll see where this takes me and I promise to share my journey how I develop this.
Besides… it's not always about the destination, it's about the journey getting there. And that entitles playing… and if you know me personally, you know it's all bout the PLAY for me! :D

That reminds me of a quote I saved from Robert Dancik, a jewelry artist. I feel like I have said this a million times in one way or another and thought his words of wisdom were worth sharing with you.

"Do not underestimate the importance of play.  Play is serious work.  When I play, it is open-ended exploration into my artwork and my processes.  I don’t focus on where it may lead or what the end product will be, but instead put my attention into enjoying and learning from the experience of simply exploring.  So the next time you are creating, don’t worry about where you’ll end up... just enjoy the ride."
Off to play for now!

Designer's Inspiration 005
Love the clean and bright yellow here with the contrasting black and green in the photo.  It had a touch of quiet and innocence to it and inspired me to create a template for how I like to "get Away".  Hope it inspires you too!

Technique Thursday - Color and Texture

Friday, February 18, 2011
When I saw Veevs's, (Honey Scraps), new CU Textures I just knew I had to use them!  And I thought what better way to use them then to show you a little of my process that goes into it and one way how to use these wonderful Textures.  Veevs has done all the hard work for us by creating these little sweeties.

So the first thing I do is look for color inspirations.  I can find them everywhere.  A flower, a piece of clothing I love, an advertisement, or an article about Benjamin Moore paint colors for your home!  Which is where I found my inspiration for these in last month Better Home's and Garden Magazine.

I usually like the darker muted Mediterranean colors, but with my soul craving spring, these more modern colors inspired me just perfect.  And the textures shown in the ad also appeal to me too especially the top multi colored one under the Lenten Rose flower.  It looked just like one of Veevs's textures she just released today in her Honey Scraps CU Textures 01.

So I started with a scan of the page from the magazine.  Opened it in my Photoshop.  Then I used my eyedropper using a 5x5 picker area and picked each color from the page adding each to my color palette.
I then saved my colors to a new color swatch palette and called it ModMediterranean.

I opened a new file 12x12 300ppi and created a new layer for each color.
I then used my paint bucket tool and applied each color to each layer.

I then opened the Honey Scraps CU Textures 01 kit file HS_CU Textures 01 01.jpg and dragged it to the top of my layers.
See a screen shot of my layers to the right here.

I changed the layer blend mode to Soft Light and took the opacity down to 50% where I thought it looked just right for a nice texture over my colors.
That was it!  I then saved my file as a jpg turning off my layers as I went down on each color saving each one as I went.  Easy peasy!  I now have a nice linen type texture just perfect for this color palette!

Like it?  You can get this sweet little paper pack today for free here called Modern Mediterranean Color Inspiration!

Hope you enjoyed and you learned how easy our CU textures really make it creating your own papers from your own color inspirations!

And our winner from out Sneak Peek post this week is…. drum roll please… Debi Putnam!
Yeah!  Congratulations Debi!  Watch your email for your instructions of how to get your winnings!
Till next time,
