If you do also, please use <a href="http://store.quiltingdaily.com/?af=cileniacurtis" target="_blank">my Affiliate/Sponsor link HERE</a> or at the bottom of my left column here on blog. These little pennies I earn from there I plan to use to supply Art Supplies to children whose parents just can't afford to buy.<br />
<br />
BUT did you know they also have <a href="http://www.clothpaperscissors.com/free-mark-making-techniques-eBook/?a=cpe120921" target="_blank">FREE eBooks</a> too there? If you live in or near a big city you've seen graffiti, though you can often find graffiti in many other places as well. But have you noticed the graffiti masterpieces popping up everywhere? Well mixed-media artist Lisa did, and she was inspired by their raw, artful expression. In a less mischievous manner, she began creating graffiti lettering on her art, and developed her own process for these lettering styles. In this hand lettering tutorial, she shares all her tips for graffiti lettering, even walking you step by step to creating your first piece of art.</td></tr>

<div style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 13px;">
This is the way I personally scrap a lot of the time, but never thought to create for my shop until a few of my Mates hit me on the head (a few times). LOL I create these in my "Play Time" for layouts of my own or clients and now I want to offer the to you also! Simplified of course as they take me many many layers to create. </div>
<div style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 13px;">
Tell me what you think of them? I love feedback!</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 13px;">
<br /><div>
I really don't even know what to call these yet! LOL It's a frame, it's a transfer or Rub-On look AND it's a photo mask fused all into one great embellishment as a 2 layered PSD and also with the two layers broke out in PNG form for our non-Photoshop users. Use them together or separately as artsy masks and overlays. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>SO, I'm going to ask you for help! </b></div>
<div>
What do you think I should call these? If I use your idea, I will give you the first set of them FREE!</div>
<div>
I will admit, I'm looking for something unique as a name, but also descriptive. :)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>So leave me a comment here with your ideas to WIN! No limit on the number of ideas or comments. </b></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=127_128&products_id=802" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/shop/bmz_cache/0/0d10f1697eb94e921b5407a1c401ea76.image.461x500.jpg" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
In my layout here, I used a solid colored cardstock paper and a couple elements from my <a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=127_128&products_id=797" target="_blank">Follow Your Art 09 Growth</a>. I changed the layer blending mode of the frame to Overlay to it softly blended into the background paper so it looked like it was Transferred or Rubbed On like I would do in real life art. Then I clipped my photo of my beautiful Kara to the photo mask layer.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I took the original photo again,flipped horizontally, extracted her out easily using my magic wand Quick Selection Tool and masked out the background. Doing this allowed me to zoom in and clean up any edges. I prefer using masks instead of erasing in case I make a mistake. </div>
<div>
Then I changed the large extracted photo to a blending mode Luminosity and lowered it's Opacity to blend a soft image of her also into the background paper. By Repeating the photo I've really shown off what I love most about this layout… my Kara. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I will do my journaling with some more photos for the opposite page of this in my book. :) The title work was perfect for this moment. She was getting ready and practicing for her Dance recital watching herself in reflection of the TV screen and she thought no one was watching. :) I created the title with 2 fonts and played with the type character settings and plucked the color from the flower element to make the whole page come together. I think this entire layout took me 15 minutes using my new frame/mask transfer embelly. :) </div>
<div>

The studio is filled with all kinds of inspirations, colors, fabrics and paints… but I only have about an hour or so before I have other commitments I need to be doing… sooooo… here I sat, with this basket staring at me that Miss Bailey had obviously been rummaging around in and had buttons and silks out too. (No idea what she did yet, I'm sure I'll find some sort of art piece she made somewhere in the near future.)<br />

And if you want to see some more of my artsy style, I did an <a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/technique-tuesday-evolution-of-a-page/" target="_blank">Evolution of a Page</a> video at my <a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/" target="_blank">Scrap Art Studio</a> site's blog yesterday for Technique Tuesday showing my entire thought process on creating an artsy layout page. This is in the raw, so be prepared. :) No editing, saying all my thoughts, showing my entire process. :) </div>

This is a very simple page, took me all of 17 minutes exactly to make. This is not really an instructional video, it's just to show you my own thought processes when I'm creating a page, but hopefully it will give you some ideas too. This is uncut and raw! LOL So please forgive any rambling. ;)<br />
<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen" frameborder="0" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/kSZ7jVMws6M" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
I'll try to the other one for this week of the artsy page I did also for this photo just to show that process I did. <br />

Credits for Layout: Color Play 2 (to be released Sept 12th) Cilenia Curtishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15634042062650532490noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6212939901760373227.post-12024943297497001452012-09-10T09:01:00.000-07:002012-09-10T12:13:56.117-07:00Sneak Peek Inspiration and Chance to Win a ClassI have a few announcements to make. That's what happens when you have too many things going on all in one week! lol<br />
<br />
First I have a new product up today in the shop and on sale too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=127_128&products_id=731" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/shop/bmz_cache/0/00edb6d938bdce06f7b9cf219b6c09b6.image.500x500.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
These are my fav brushes I reach for when I am creating layouts and designing papers. I will be teaching how to make these in my upcoming Digital Designer Studio class but may give a little peek into the process of how to color these artsy in my upcoming <a href="http://www.reneepearson.com/classes/color.php" target="_blank">Building Color Confidence class</a> that starts Sept 17th. </div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
Did you see you can <b><a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/creative-challenge-friday-color-challenge-and-a-contest-to-win/" target="_blank">win a seat</a></b> for that class on the SAS Blog Friday by taking on our Color Challenge? You have until Sunday to enter! And join me for a <a href="http://www.reneepearson.com/members/reneetv/" target="_blank">LIVE CHAT at ReneeTV</a> Wednesday Sept 12th at 9PM EDT. </div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
And speaking of the Color Challenge… us SAS Designers loved these so much we decided to use them for this month's <a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=82_143_159" target="_blank">Color Play 2</a> kits being released late Tuesday. Want a little peek?! Of course you do! lol</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
I made a few layouts over the weekend. YEAH ME! It's rare I have the time lately to do some layouts, so I was a very very happy camper. :)</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
First I made a very traditional layout of my Miss Bailey learning she had a built in musical instrument… her vocal cords! lol Gotta luv it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTuWwng3xM1W2sQaoI_7ShcQIJMemlJ7rtEv3aqhfnw9bXR9gfhtb70k7WGAZtw-2EcS7O7F1ph74LDwnJxoin3x7JEALNPGXu9ffl5TB8gOjEADJAP7QtTl_UtoWhv2FsrrH7KR6mjbGJ/s1600/Bailey-VocalCords1_WEB.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTuWwng3xM1W2sQaoI_7ShcQIJMemlJ7rtEv3aqhfnw9bXR9gfhtb70k7WGAZtw-2EcS7O7F1ph74LDwnJxoin3x7JEALNPGXu9ffl5TB8gOjEADJAP7QtTl_UtoWhv2FsrrH7KR6mjbGJ/s400/Bailey-VocalCords1_WEB.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And then I decided to do an artsy layout when a friend asked me what the difference is between my Traditional and Artsy layouts, at least according to me! lol To me, it's the blending and my scribbles in this one. I LOVE both styles and now have to choose when one to put into my books. Hmmm maybe one into Miss Bailey's book and one into my own book. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGL0pMrpiB9r_rvjEZFipSM85vDBRFr6NPzrWDEAbaN8E8P97yBjD7WQZGqY6J5vDuZja2ZnKfYUTkLN1xEqXfUX_W73akuqiCPP8_BbMWLpTbPfQjYc-y5D6V9xP4wJzbSdgvfATnt2wM/s1600/Bailey-VocalCords2_WEB1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGL0pMrpiB9r_rvjEZFipSM85vDBRFr6NPzrWDEAbaN8E8P97yBjD7WQZGqY6J5vDuZja2ZnKfYUTkLN1xEqXfUX_W73akuqiCPP8_BbMWLpTbPfQjYc-y5D6V9xP4wJzbSdgvfATnt2wM/s400/Bailey-VocalCords2_WEB1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I couldn't stop playing with my kits so I made two more. These photos are from when Kara was puppy sitting for the animal shelter one weekend. Bailey and her got quite attached to those puppies, but happy to report, they all found good homes thanks to volunteers like my Kara.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here in these I made the left page more of a traditional layout style, and then the right page is more artsy. With the common background paper, they still go very well together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwdCnsBPNUm3uGj72JG-MFEYevHp6HP6YpDs4sJ-urZnC9udIvoobhgebmf1w8f1exQS8GJFRaH_m3z1FNfI390ENIeTKMBYOWLhsVLT28-aoBbLE5zbcwOJ506RbWg9RqYEHHTHI_3jSa/s1600/Kara_puppy-love-Left_WEB.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwdCnsBPNUm3uGj72JG-MFEYevHp6HP6YpDs4sJ-urZnC9udIvoobhgebmf1w8f1exQS8GJFRaH_m3z1FNfI390ENIeTKMBYOWLhsVLT28-aoBbLE5zbcwOJ506RbWg9RqYEHHTHI_3jSa/s400/Kara_puppy-love-Left_WEB.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also used a <a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=127_128&products_id=643" target="_blank">Sewn Flower from FYA Imagine</a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and artsy loop from my <a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=82_84&products_id=186" target="_blank">Beautiful Mess 4 kit</a> that I recolored white.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
And watch for later this week where I hope to have a a couple little videos of these pages and my process how I created them! I hope to have ready for you tomorrow.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
I also have some of my traditional kits on sale at <a href="http://bit.ly/P7vgr3" target="_blank">Digitals</a> this week for 35% off. These most likely will be retired this year so don't miss out on the sale!</div>

Took us 2 hours to corral them from the big vertical tank to a small tank. Now they will have a fighting chance to find food better. <br />
<br />
And here is another one too! They are about 1/4" big.<br />
These are best viewed full screen or on YouTube. :)<br />

So after all the rain... ahem, 'flash flooding' last week, I thought, how wonderful for the garden and the trees! Well... maybe not this much, but we so needed the rain. You might have caught this on my Facebook posts last Wednesday when Casey (my son), and I ventured out for an afternoon unaware this is what was up at the end of the street 1 block over. Yes, that's a street. LOL</div>

I will admit, this was a little out of my comfort zone, but I primed up for it by playing in the art studio with Miss Bailey's paints. :D<br />
<br />
At first I wasn't thrilled with how it was coming out, but the more I look at the papers and pieces, I have so many ideas what to do with this now. Yeah!<br />
<br />
This is very much like I art journal in real life. I even put in some text paths like I do journaling. I like to sometimes do my journaling in shapes and even paint over them to layering and layering. It's good therapy. :) I hope to have some page inspirations for you very soon.<br />
But for now, CTM Angela did this REALLY FUN page by creating her own shapes and using the papers to color them. Adorable Angela! Just love the monster on the top with the upside down flowers too. :)<br />

<br />
First, I have a Sneak Peek for you of an upcoming new series of mini kits that the SASsy Studio Designers and I have cooked up. It's called Color Play! If you remember last year I did a similar series of mini kits called <a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=82_151" target="_blank">Creative Musings</a>. Only available as Monthly Bundles now.<br />
Each month, we will be choosing a new color pallet to play with. Then each week, we will create a few mini kits and release each Tuesday afternoon and they will be on sale for a very special price through Thursday. These make for fun little kits to mix and match all month long to create your own Mega Kit. Our styles are all different, but our kits work so beautifully together. At the end of the month we will Bundle up our mini kits for the same new release sale price.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can find all of them in our <a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=82" target="_blank">Collections Category</a> later today.</div>

<div style="font: 13.0px Verdana; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;">
Hi everyone! Time for your August Art Journaling Challenge at Digitals!</div>
<div style="font: normal normal normal 13px/normal Verdana; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font: normal normal normal 13px/normal Verdana; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
This month I want to challenge you to use a color you normally wouldn't use. I did mine creating these kits this month! LOL Orange. It's not that I don't like orange… but as I was looking for some kind of inspiration to create your bonus mini kit this month… I was looking through my clothes, my home, my scrapbooks and even my paints I use for my mixed media projects and my yards and yards of fabrics too! LOL Wow, I didn't realize how anti orange I really was. LOL I rarely ever ever use it. I had to push outside my comfort zone to use this color this month. </div>
<div style="font: normal normal normal 13px/normal Verdana; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
I will say… after forcing myself to use it, I became more comfortable using it and even grew to like it. ;) I still won't wear it… as my skin tone and it don't like each other much, but you may just start to see it creep into my art more. :)</div>
<div style="font: normal normal normal 13px/normal Verdana; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font: 13.0px Verdana; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;">
If you prefer to just buy the mini kit, I have added a Mini Art Journal Challenge to my shop that includes this bonus and plus more to give you a nice mini kit. You can <a href="http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/digitals/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26_313&products_id=27394"><b>find it here</b></a>.</div>
<div style="font: normal normal normal 13px/normal Verdana; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font: 13.0px Verdana; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;">
So let's see your pages with that color! After you create it and post in the <a href="http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/galleria/showgallery.php/cat/1499">Art Journal Challenge Gallery</a>, come back to the forum at Digitals and link me up in the Challenge Thread! I will then send you this Bonus mini for playing along with us via private message at Digitals.</div>

<div style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 15px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-decoration: none;">
What is a C.A.S.E. file? Well, it’s where we find a layout and Copy And Steal Everything and turn it into a PSD sketch Template for you! It’s sort of a scraplift with a Template.</div>
<div style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 15px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-decoration: none;">
So for our first CASE file I’m going to be using one of my own scrap page layouts, Splishin’ and a Splashin’ about the neighborhood girls having a pool splash party last month with their fav babysitter Miss Kara.</div>
<div style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 15px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-decoration: none;">
Here is the page I did.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Cilenia_Splishin_Splashin_WEB.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Cilenia_Splishin_Splashin_WEB.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 15px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-decoration: none;">
This is what I call my ‘other side’ of scrapping. I love the clean look with the touch of artsy thrown in. The brushes I made for the background give it just the right look I wanted. I used the font Marker Felt for the title and applied some layer styles to give it a soft watery feel. And yes, it’s in the PSD file. <img alt=":)" class="wp-smiley" src="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" style="border-bottom-style: none; border-color: initial; border-left-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-top-style: none; border-width: initial; float: none; max-width: 100%;" /> I also included the border text path where I wrote the lyrics from the song Splish Splash. You can edit this too if you like for your journaling, quote or your own lyrics for your page. I clustered my photos to one side and made sure to leave plenty of ‘white space’ for the eyes to rest in. This is a tried and true design technique and you really an’t go wrong with it. I brought unity to the photos by either overlapping a bit and attaching them together with staples and then using my brushwork as my matting for the whole cluster of them. I could have easily used just a paper matte, but then it wouldn’t have the artsy feel I so love.</div>
<div style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 15px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-decoration: none;">
So here is your C.A.S.E File to make your own clean and artsy layout. I’ve also included a PNG file as a quick page without the text for our non-photoshop users.</div>
<div style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 15px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-decoration: none;">
You can <a href="http://www.scrapartstudio.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=152&products_id=458" style="color: #495c6f; text-decoration: none;">download it here</a> in shop for free for the next week. After that it will be sold for Charity for $1.35.</div>

<div style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 15px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-decoration: none;">

</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
Do you like to design quick pages? But hate how much of a pain it can be?</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
Have you ever wanted to make quick pages easily by masking out the area of your photo without having to go through the pain of erasing all the below objects that should be hidden or masking out each layer of an object below? Or maybe you want to create a PSD layered template to use like a quick page but being able to edit where you have your photos?</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
There is a little known tool in Photoshop called Knockout that is easy to use. It's in your Layer Styles!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
After creating the area you want the photo to be (using a marque tool, or maybe a brush like I did here in gray.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
So have you upgraded?!?! I am in LOVE with the new CS6! Well.... after I figured some things out that is. lol The new crop tool is the one that really threw me for a loop. It will be great for all the newbie CS users, but will take some getting used to for us old dogs! But this old dog WILL learn to do new tricks! LOL </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
So in my travels and talking to other new CS6 users (Thanks Marcie and Renee!), here are some links I found very useful! </div>

Hi There! Sabrina here again, well if you read the <a href="http://follow-your-art-journal.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Follow Your Art Blog</a> you have seen me before lol, with a couple of layouts from Cilenia's gallery to inspire you.<br />
<br />
I wanted to focus on one of her newest kits called <a href="http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/digitals/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26_313&products_id=26872" target="_blank">Art Journal Kit June 2012</a> because of the beautiful combination of blue, sand, with a touch of green. This kit is perfect for anything from art journaling to everyday scrapbook pages. One fabulous item Cilenia incorporated into this kit is Washi Tape! <br />
<br />
Now if you are like me and have no clue what that is no worries! I didn't know what it was either until this kit was released but I researched it, as I do most things in life lol, and it is a type of paper/tape created by the Japanese. This type of product is actually tougher than normal paper and is made to be very decorative, if you would like to learn more about Washi tape click <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washi" target="_blank">here</a>. But isn't it cool that Cilenia created a digital form for us to play with?!<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So now on to a couple of layouts to see how this cool kit can be used!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
"Father & Son" by Vicky Day</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This page is the epitome of layering! Vicky did a wonderful job of stacking especially with the layers on the right side and if you look closely she balanced that out with a small stacked cluster in the bottom left corner. I really love Vicky's sepia-toned image of the father teaching his son how to shoot a BB gun. This photo could have easily been scrapped with a more traditional masculine kit but the mood would not have been the same. Vicky has drawn us into this layout by creating a nostalgic atmosphere with the colors of this kit and it can easily be interpreted as growth with the use of the butterflies. Think about it...butterflies have an amazing growth progress and have so many symbolic meanings. I interpret this page as the father is beginning to give his son "wings" by teaching him to shoot. Great page Vicky!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dcKYuPZ9hjw/T_HXAzTRrQI/AAAAAAAAAE0/_ps07RPwijo/s1600/6-8-12_Every-Page.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dcKYuPZ9hjw/T_HXAzTRrQI/AAAAAAAAAE0/_ps07RPwijo/s400/6-8-12_Every-Page.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"Every Page" by Me (Sabrina)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When I had the opportunity to work with this kit the first thing I decided to do was dig into my enormous set of files to find just the right photo to compliment this kit. It is no lie that my favorite color of all is blue so my excitement was bubbling. I found the image above from a recent trip to a local amusement park and the blues in it were perfect! I went to work by bringing in a sand colored mask and then blending the photo over it and offsetting it to add a touch of interest. The color of the mask was pulling the eye so strong I decided to add a touch of the same color in the top right-hand corner to balance it out. The butterflies in the kit then called out to me to use them and I said to myself, "Why not?" Flowers and butterflies go together but I did not want them to overpower my other work so I subtly blended them into the background. I struggled with a title for this page but then I read a quote somewhere that made me come up with, "Every page I scrap is a piece of history."</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And it is true sweet friends! Whether you are a traditional scrapper or an art jouranler everything you make is a piece of history, a moment in time preserved for future generations! So now that I have hopefully inspired you go and grab those fleeting moments of history and make some lovely pages!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Until next time!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Hi there everyone! </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">I have an awesome little tutorial from one of my CTs Angela aka <a href="http://toucanscraps.blogspot.com/">Toucan Scraps</a>. WOW, everyone knocked our socks off! I am so humbled and over joyed at the responses we received. So many talented people from traditional scrapbookers to the artsy memory keepers and even a few Art Journalers. Was honestly a pleasure to see so many beautiful layouts and artists and made it difficult to pick and choose too!
<br />
<br />
SO.... We have chosen to add nine of these very talented people to our current team that we felt were the best fit for our art. Each of these ladies is very talented and has additional special and unique contributions which you will start to see very soon. Very very exciting!

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Finding you….<br />
Unlike art, where I can usually walk into my studio and just start it and let it flow... writing comes a lot harder for me. Now, expressing verbally usually doesn't, or so I'm told, but when I am with someone in real life talking about art or sewing or almost anything I love, I'm 'outrageously contagious' they say, with inspirations from my overly excited chatter... don't know how true that is, but feels good to know I'v inspired someone. :)
<br />
So with that said, I'm going to attempt to write as I would talk. :D But you will have to pretend a little here as you can not hear my voice with the little squeals of excitement, or the serious glance and assurance that you too can do this.
<br />
<br />
One question I am asked over and over again is how to find your own creative voice... your true... What is the secret? How do I get there? It's not an easy answer. And to be honest... I'm still on my journey to "get there"! lol I secretly hope my journey doesn't stop, as that would stop the fun of discovery.
<br />
<br />
I did a scrap page a few years back that spoke how I feel about the journey... "It's not about the destination, it's about the journey getting there. Life is a journey... so make each day count." So true, so true. It's our little journeys that make up our lives. It's the journeys that make it wondrous. Up the hill, down the hill, tired, exhilarated, sad and then happy and joyous... it's all a part of the journey. All these things make up our journey in life, and each and every one is such an important part or facet of our own selves making up the whole as we go. Yes it will change along the way... you will change. Change can be good! It's about learning from the mistakes and growing. It's about learning something new, trying it out and building on it if we end up liking it. Not everything we do we will love... or even like for that matter... but wasn't it fun to try? :D
<br />
<br />
What I do know is you have to do what you love... don't let others tell you how to do it, where to do it, or when you should be doing it.
<br />
It doesn't matter what kind of artist you are... your art should come within. From your soul! Discover and listen to what your inner voice is saying to you. Maybe you express in scrapbooking pages of your life's little journeys, or maybe you express in art or visual journaling and even intermix the two as I do... or maybe your love is mixed media or digital art or even in sewing by art quilting.... doesn't matter HOW you express your inner voice, your art, your memories... the point is to EXPRESS it! Let it out! Let your heart sing!
<br />
<br />
Discover... yes I used that word to describe the creative journey. You need to discover "it". The "it" is whatever you want "it" to be. The "it" is your True.
<br />
So many things in our lives hide from us what we really want to be feeling or thinking or doing. What I mean is, that things happen to make us push thoughts or feelings deep into a dark hole inside and we don't look at them... they sit there, hiding, waiting to be discovered. The simple thought of "I can't do that like this or that person." or "I'm not an artist like [fill in the blank].", pushes our own creative selves deeper into that void, that hole and we even tend to put a lid on it and forget about it. I'm just as guilty as the next person of doing this. Then I remind myself... in ways that seem so weird you'd wonder if I had this magical all knowing self back then that knew I would need an encouraging word in the future. I will create a page, write a journal passage or create a piece of wall art with some inspirational quote or word... then WAY into the future, it seems to LEAP at me just when I need it. I honestly think this is my inner voice coming out... my True, trying to speak to me. That somehow, my unconscious self, knew I would need it one day.
<br />
<br />
I have also learned that I have had to learn to let go... letting go is hard! But we have to let go of negative thoughts of failure, of not being perfect, of not creating like someone else and ALLOWING our own creativeness to come shining through.
<br />
<br />
We need to dig deep, uncover the veil and discover what we really want and feel and getting in tune with that. That's finding and discovering your True.
<br />
So in summary... dont worry about the end destination... have fun in the journey of discovery. I always say "You've got to learn to play! Play to learn, play to grow, play to find your inner creative goddess." :) Search within and find your authentic self, your inner voice... your True!

WOW - There are times, a lot lately, I see how utterly creative my Creative Team is!<br />
<div>
Look at Judy's awesome art page she created! I was totally taken away with Judy's Art Page she did this week and asked her if she would share some of her process with us. She graciously agreed and I am thrilled to share it with you here.</div>

<div style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: medium;">
Scrapbooking and Art Journaling doesn't always have to have a purpose or be about a memory... it's a wonderful creative outlet too for those who don't like to get their hands dirty and for those who just don't have the money to spend on the tons of products it would take to create art in real life. </div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: medium;">
Using digital art is so easy and inexpensive compared real life art. So if you have been wanting to dip your toes in the waters of creating beautiful art pages too, why not give it a go?! What's the worst that can happen? You delete it... or create a unique one of kind art piece that you are seriously considering printing to hang on your wall! :D</div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: medium;">
Thank you again Judy for sharing your process!</div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia;">
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 14px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">I started with a paper background layer from FYA Discover Papers</span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 14px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">I brought in my Image to the above layer and copied it for 2 so I could get it as dark as I wanted. First image layer @ 100% opacity and layer blend mode set to Multiply, the second image layer was set @65% opacity and again Multiply blend mode.</span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 14px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Next is an overlay from Artbox 15 #1, which isolated the upper portion of the image. </span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">This was used with a layer mask below it to open up some areas at the bottom to include a bit of the hair and dress. Blend mode was normal and a paper layer was clipped to it for the desired color.</span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 14px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Another overlay was then used, FYA Discover Masks and Mattes Overlay #1, normal blend mode and opacity reduced to 52%.</span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 14px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Layer 9 is my own personal icon/logo set in the border.</span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 14px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">The next layer is where the magic really happens. The textures on the butterfly created such marvelous patterns when the blend mode was set on multiply. To add even more interest and emphasis I added a drop show and an inner shadow.</span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 14px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">The word discover was done with the font CK Fill and The areas to be filled were selected and then filled with a portion of the image found on the upper edges. A slight drop shadow was added.</span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 14px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Final butterfly was added in left bottom for balance, multiply blend mode and opacity @ 79%.</span></div>
<div style="font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 14px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">I think a lot of what makes this page striking is the level of detail and interesting colors and patterns found in the original image from Far Far Hill Blog. Can only say how lucky I was to have stumbled upon it. Love the Art Deco style so was drawn to all the women in the set.</span></div>
<div style="font-size: medium; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; min-height: 14px;">

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Here is a screen shot of all the layers within my PSD file.</span></div>
